Yesterday we ran over to Lowe’s to pick up a few things and as we were headed to the checkout, one of the clerks said to Noah, “Hey – look at the baby over there!” and pointed. I thought that was a little weird — great, a baby. I just want to pay and leave. But oh no, it was not just any baby. It was a lady who was holding a Black Spider Monkey. He was wearing pants and little sweatshirt and was so small. She said she also puts a diaper on him and he has his own room at home, filled with toys. The boys loved the monkey! I, personally, thought that although it was cute, it was a little odd to bring a monkey into a home improvement store, but hey — to each his or her own, right? Drew petted its little head. I kept my distance because I have this irrational fear of monkeys (they kind of creep me out). But it certainly made the day interesting!

Compare Brands Before You Buy
I’ve been trying really hard to keep the clutter out of our house and this has mainly meant that I’ve held back from buying various kitchen gadgets. Continue reading Compare Brands Before You Buy
And On A Lighter Note
You know I can’t resist book lists, even though I haven’t actually finished a book in over a year (awful, isn’t it?). Anyway, I’ve seen this around. Apparently there is a list of the U.K.’s favorite books, as determined by a survey. I’ve bolded the ones I’ve actually read.

Happy Hour
It’s well after 5, finally. Today I decided to try a new cocktail. I found the recipe in the current (March 2007) issue of Food & Wine magazine. Do you like vanilla? Do you like bourbon? (I’m looking at you, Miss Lisanne!). Then this is for you. I couldn’t find a lemon since the boys were tossing it around like a ball earlier this afternoon, so I had to do without a garnish. Though in hindsight, I could have thrown a marachino cherry in there. Anyway… The recipe:
Indian Summer
1.5 oz. Bianco vermouth
1.5 oz. bourbon (I used Maker’s Mark)
Fill pint glass 2/3 with ice. Add vermouth and bourbon. Stir. Strain into cocktail glass. Garnish with lemon twist.
And It’s Not Even 9AM
A little rundown of how awesome my day has been so far:
- Around 12:30 this morning I awoke to someone looming over my side of the bed. I screamed, my heart was racing, and I lept up. Turns out it was Jake who was scared for some reason and who I obviously scared even more with my reaction.
- I then heard music coming from somewhere in the house (I heard it through the baby monitor), and realized the TV was on in the living room. I know I shut if off before bed, so then I was freaked out and couldn’t get back to sleep for a while.
- Noah started making noise around 4 and I had to drag my sorry ass out of bed around 4:50
- I broke a plate. (At least I hate them.)
- Someone put a dime in my tea and I didn’t realize it until I was at the bottom of my mug.
- I burned my egg.
- Noah dumped his bowl of canned apricots on the braided rug.
- Both boys are rather needy today and I have a lot I want/need to get done.
Hello, March? Yeah, you’re not starting out well. Please, someone, tell me today will get better!
